Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 4pm-6:30pm at Highlands Cork & Cafe in Denver we’re throwing a party to celebrate the release of “Like That”, a 5-song EP of Americana-flavored Roots Rock tunes I’ve been working on with producer John McVey and a seriously talented bunch of folks. Nick Forster and Christian Teele from eTown played […]
The “Like That” EP is being printed, and will be ready for release soon! You can take a peek at the artwork here (it doesn’t work in every browser).
My upcoming EP, “Like That” is still off to duplication, but Texas Rebel Radio‘s Beth Williams has the lead-off single, “Here Comes Another Good Time” and it’s making a debut tonight, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 6pm Mountain (7pm Central, 8pm Eastern).
I just received the final masters for the EP, and am a pretty happy camper right now! Thank you Jim Wilson Mastering. Now let’s get this thing released and distributed.
I’ve been working with producer John McVey for months on 5 songs that are almost ready for release. It’s been a whirlwind ride, bringing in players like Nick Forster of eTown (where this pic was taken), who threw down some slick guitar leads. Now while the mastering happens, it’s time to finish up the artwork […]
What a world we live in. I’m holding a device about the size of a Pop Tart that has more computing power than the first Space Shuttle, writing whatever is on my mind and posting it to the interwebs. Here is my cat high on painkillers after he injured his leg. He stared at nothing […]
We’re testing the capability to post to the blog by email. If you’re reading this, it worked! There should also be a picture below of Andy performing at the Boulder International Film Festival.
Just launched the brand new site, and hopefully it’s working for you. I’d especially love to hear if you saw this post somewhere else, like Facebook or Twitter. I’ve shuffled some things around, and muddled through some real nerdy stuff to make it cleaner and more user-friendly. The whole point of which is to better […]
The year started with a new album well under way, hindered by a few inconveniently timed bouts of bronchitis. The songs kept coming, though, and in June “How Easy It Is” finally hit the shelves. It’s my first full-length solo album, and I produced the whole thing in the bat cave that is my studio. […]
My song, “How Easy It Is” won the Pop/Film/TV category of the Write With a Hit-Maker competition, and it is quite an honor. At this weekend’s Durango Songwriter’s Expo I will be meeting with composer Adam Zelkind and we’ll write another big hit! How Easy It Is by Andy Ard Congratulations to Frank Maroney, who […]
Recorded entirely in my underground bunker studio, this little bundle of songs represents several transformations – as a songwriter, as a recording engineer, as a musician, as a project manager, a father and husband, ex-couch potato, seeker of zen, what have you. I started out with the simple mantra “music for people who want to […]

This was some unexpected and very pleasant news… Carmen Allgood at http://www.worldwidewavez.com/ told me that one of my tracks from her Indie Music Wave show got picked up by program director Stevie Gordon for his show at Radio Seagull. Broadcasting from the ship the ‘Jenni Baynton’ moored in Harlingen Harbour in the Netherlands, Radio Seagull […]

Kick off your Independence Day weekend with a celebration of quintessential American songs performed by Trinity Demask, Andy Ard, Lauren Brombert and Steve Jantzen. From immigrant influences, America’s musical legacy was defined by the blending of cultures, rhythms, and experiences. What emerged over two centuries are musical genres and stories that weave a tapestry as […]

First I must give credit for the title to my friend and fellow composer, Matthew “Melle” Johnson for coming up with that title. About a year ago, we conspired to start the Denver chapter of the Immersion Composition Society, and he coined the term that perfectly captures what ICS is about. Put simply, you coop […]
The cure for hanging over is hanging out. Or something like that. January 1, 2010 (New Year’s Day) was the “Hangover Helper” Show at The Toad Tavern in Littleton, so Andy & the boys whooped up a set of boozy songs from Bob Dylan, The Kinks, Billy Joel and more. They’re on the Andy Ard […]

Andy just recorded a 4-song set with Jake Schroeder at Denver’s 99.5 The Mountain for the Monday, January 26 Mountain Homegrown show. Listeners outside the Denver metro area may listen online at http://www.995themountain.com. They shot the breeze for a while, mostly about music. Andy’s busy working on new songs for his forthcoming CD, “Bad Girls […]
We’ve been waiting for a site like this. ReverbNation.com is easy to use for uploading tracks, promoting shows, adding pictures and lots more, and best of all it plugs right into Facebook. On the listening end, it must be just as easy to follow favorite bands. We’ll see. Andy’s profile on RN is far from […]
Some preview tracks for the upcoming album are streaming on Radio Free Colorado, with more to follow soon: http://www.live365.com/stations/115599
You can download Eric Shiveley’s tracks from the movie at http://ericshiveley.fuzz.com/music – most of which you can’t get anywhere else. Do this with the knowledge that you are directly financing the creation of more music and film. It’s like adopting a creative powerhouse for the cost of three cups of coffee. While you’re at it, […]
Andy spent the past weekend in Alamosa recording with Eric Shiveley at Desert Air Studios, and he put together a video postcard of that trip. This is one of the songs they worked on, “Wonderful.” (link to YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwhpoIWnJlA)
indieWIRE: DISPATCH FROM WYOMING | Jackson Hole Goes Global: “Full length narratives and documentaries included some gems as well. …the no-budget wonder-film ‘Everyone But You.’ Find something higher quality and more indie, and you will have discovered a new breed of cinema.”
Andy makes a brief appearance (as we’ve mentioned a time or two) in Eric Shiveley’s documentary about being an indepedent musician that’s in the Jackson Hole Film Festival (June 5-9). Andy wants to help Eric get better gigs and more publicity, and it would be fun to generate interest in all the great Colorado music […]
COLORADO SPRINGS – Eric Shiveley’s independent documentary “Everyone But You” made its Colorado premiere at the 2008 Indie Spirit Film Festival as the opening feature on April 25. In this YouTube clip, Eric captures some of the pre-show buzz and post-show Q&A.
Eric’s movie took the cake at the Oxford International Film Festival, and here’s one review from a movie buff. “I cannot think of anything else to say about this film other than you should go see it, at all costs. This film is Saltystix.com’s consensus pick as the best and favorite film at the Oxford […]
I still can’t figure out why it takes 8 to 10 weeks to copy MP3 files to their catalog, when Amazon.com had it up the next day. Oh well, here it is.
Two of Andy’s tracks that appear in Eric Shiveley’s documentary “Everyone But You” are available online in the following locations: http://www.myspace.com/andyard “Baby Don’t Care” (the “hey hey” song Eric and Andy were recording) “Untitled on Wire & Wood” (guitar at end of Marfa NPR segment) “Untitled on Wire & Wood” is also available on Amazon.com […]
